Servant EQUIPPING
 
WHY EQUIPPING?
Good question. Shouldn't I love God and serve others? Yes, but the bible warns us that zeal without knowledge can be dangerous. It is important for each of us to understand the doctrine of Calvary Chapel and to be like-minded when it comes to how we represent God in the motorcycle community. The requirements will only help you understand more about the Lord, and aid you in your service to Him! The Motorcycle Ministry encourages all participants in the ministry to proceed through the first four levels of the Servant's Requirements. The details of each level of these requirements are set forth below:
Level I

* Must be saved and water baptized.
* Must have attended Calvary Chapel on a weekly basis for at least six months.
* Must agree with Calvary Chapel's Statement of Faith.
  * Must have read 'The Philosophy of Ministry of Calvary Chapel' by Pastor Chuck    Smith
* Must complete a Level 1 and 2 Ministry Questionnaire.
* Must have interviewed with and been approved by a pastoral or staff/lay    overseer. Following this approval, you may serve for a 60-day confirmation    period.

* Final approval of your application/appointment must then be confirmed at the    pastors' meeting in order to continue serving.

While serving as a Level I servant, you must complete the 'Exploring the Faith' series of classes within six months.
Level II

* Must have completed Level I requirements.
  * Must have read 'Calvary Chapel Distinctives' by Pastor Chuck Smith, and    completed the accompanying study guide. The study guide will be reviewed    during the interview.
* Must have listened to Pastor Bob Coy's teaching tape on serving God with    your gifts. (Tape # A1331)
* Must have interviewed with and been approved by a pastoral or staff/lay    overseer. Following this approval, you may serve for a 60-day confirmation    period.
      * Final approval of your application/appointment must then be confirmed at the    pastors' meeting in order to continue serving.
While serving as a Level II servant, you must complete the 'Experiencing the Faith' series of classes within six months.
Level III

* Must have completed Level II requirements.
* Must be actively involved in ministry and have a positive referral from your    overseer.
* Must have read 'Why Grace Changes Everything' by Pastor Chuck Smith, and    completed the accompanying study guide. The study guide will be reviewed    during the interview.
* Must have read 'Answers for Today' by Pastor Chuck Smith.
* Must complete a Level 3 and 4 Ministry Questionnaire.
* Must have interviewed with and been approved by a pastoral or staff/lay    overseer. Following this approval, you may serve for a 60-day confirmation    period.
* Final approval of your application/appointment must then be confirmed at the    pastors' meeting in order to continue serving.
While serving as a Level III servant, you must complete the 'Practicing the Faith' series of classes within six months.
Level IV

* Must have completed Level III requirements.
* Must be actively involved in ministry and have a positive referral from your    overseer.
* Must have read and be able to demonstrate an understanding of 'Calvinism,    Arminianism, and the Word of God' by Pastor Chuck Smith.
* Must have completed the Leadership Principles and Practices series of classes.
* Men: Must meet all of the requirements of a deacon as described in 1 Timothy           3:8-13.
 
* Women: Must meet the requirements listed in 1 Timothy 3:11 and Titus 2:4-5.
* Must have interviewed with and been approved by a pastoral or staff/lay    overseer. Following this approval, you may serve for a 60-day confirmation    period.
* Final approval of your application/appointment must then be confirmed at the    pastors' meeting in order to continue serving.
Level V

* Must complete a Level 5 Ministry Questionnaire (provided when invited to    serve).
* Must have completed Level IV requirements.
* Must be actively involved in ministry and have a positive referral from your    overseer.
* Must have completed the Biblical Counseling series of classes.
* Men: Must meet all of the requirements of an overseer as described in 1            Timothy 3:1-7.
* Women: Must meet the requirements listed in Titus 2:3-4.
* Must be invited to serve at this level and have been interviewed and approved    by a pastor.
* Final approval of your application/appointment must then be confirmed at the    pastors' meeting prior to serving at this level.
